Overview:

“I think both batsmen played brilliant and when someone is in his 90s, Test century is important. This was the first century of Washington Sundar and the situation in which he scored was entitled to this century.”

Delhi: The fourth Test match played between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester was drawn, but there was a little tension on the field on the last day. India captain Shubman Gill said after the match that the atmosphere in the dressing room was like victory. Gill said, “Today’s result seems like victory in the situation in which we were yesterday morning. Especially when two wickets fell early in the beginning. After that the way our batsmen showed courage and restraint, it was very good to see.”

Jadeja and Sundar scored a brilliant century

India started with 0/2 chasing England’s 311 -run lead, but finally the score was 425/4. Ravindra Jadeja (107*) and Washington Sundar (101*) scored a strong 203 runs with an unbeaten century.

“Test century, a century is only”

In the last hour of the match, a little controversy occurred when England gestured to join hands for a draw, but India’s batsmen continued the game. England captain Ben Stokes looked angry at this. He taunted and said, “Do you want to score a century against Harry Brook?” England had given the ball to the part-time bowler in protest.

Gill said clearly, “I think both batsmen played brilliant and when someone is in his 90s, the Test century is important. This was the first century of Washington Sundar and the situation in which he scored he was entitled to this century.”

Jadeja showed restraint

When Stokes taunted, Jadeja just said, “I can’t do anything”, and then on the next ball, he scored his century by hitting Harry Brook six.

Gill praising Jadeja and Sundar said, “Every ball on the fifth day pitch is like an event. We only thought that we have to play one ball and go deep. They did it exactly that.”
