No decision has been taken regarding the availability of Jaspreet Bumrah in the Oval Test. Coach Gautam Gambhir said that all fast bowlers are fit but there has been no discussion about Bumrah. Shubman Gill also said that we have to wait and see.
Delhi: Before the fifth and last Test between India and England starting on 31 July, the question remains the biggest whether Jaspreet Bumrah will be part of this match or not. Bumrah has played three Tests of the series so far and this was already a plan. But, during the Manchester Test, his speed looked low and on one occasion he was also seen to be staggering returning to the dressing room, which increased the concern about his injury.
However, the head coach of the Indian team Gautam Gambhir said that all the fast bowlers are fit and there is no concern about any injury at the moment. However, he did not make it clear whether Bumrah would be fed in the Oval Test or not. Gambhir said, “There is no talk about the playing XI of the final test yet. No decision has been taken on whether Jaspreet Bumrah will play or not.”
Here, captain Shubman Gill also avoided answering on this question and said, “Let’s see what happens.”
Apart from Bumrah, Talking about the rest of the fast bowlers, Mohammad Siraj has bowled continuously in all four Tests so far. Arshdeep Singh has an injury to the finger and Akash Deep is also recovering from Grin injury. In such a situation, India would like that their most trusted fast bowler is fit and available to draw the series and win the Oval Test.
Talking about the Manchester Test, India made a brilliant comeback and drawn the match. Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar scored centuries and the team saved the match by scoring 425/4 in the second innings.
Now India will look at the series by winning the last Test, while England is ahead 2–1 and the draw will also win the series.
