Delhi: The final Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is being played between India and England at the Oval Cricket Ground in London. Discussions about the playing XI of this match are fast. Especially, questions are being raised when star Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is not getting a chance to play a single Test throughout the tour. Now former India captain Sourav Ganguly has given his response to this matter.
Ganguly expressed his opinion that Kuldeep must have been kept out of the playing XI in view of the green pitch of the oval, but he is disappointed with this decision. He also said that the role of a spinner is important on the fifth day of the Test match in any part of the world.
He said, “In the past we have seen that all wrist spinners have been playing an important role in Test teams, whether it is Shane Warne or Muthaiya Muralitharan. England had Graeme Swanti and Monty Panesar, while India has veteran spinners like Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin, like Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin.”
Ganguly expressed the most surprise about Bengal fast bowler Mukesh Kumar, who was not selected for the entire Test series. He said, “I am surprised by Mukesh’s absence in the national team in red -ball cricket. His domestic record is excellent and England’s weather would be perfect for him. I hope the selectors will consider his name in future.”
Ganguly also reacted to Anshul Kamboj, who was included in the team in the fourth Test. He appealed to the fans not to evaluate a player based on a match. According to him, it is important to give time to young players as well as time.
Praising India’s batting, Ganguly said that in the current series, the batsmen reminded of the England tours of 2001 and 2007. He said, “At that time everyone had scored centuries from opener to number six. This time too, top order, middle order and lower middle order played useful innings.”
Appreciating Shubman Gill’s performance, Ganguly said, “Gill is an extraordinary batsman. He scored his first Test century abroad in the headingley and showed that when someone is given responsibility, he could be completely dedicated to him.”
