The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month nominees for July 2025, which include England’s Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Ecclestone, as well as Ireland’s Gaby Lewis.
Both Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Ecclestone gave a decent contribution during the home tour against India.
Sophia Dunkley showed consistency for England throughout the month of July during the white ball series against India at home.
Despite a poor start in the T20I series, she went on to bounce back scoring 75 runs in the third match which helped the side to secure narrow-five triumph.
She continued her form into the ODI series with India by making an excellent 83 runs in the first match of the series and was only dismissed twice when amassing 126 runs across the three games.
Sophie Ecclestone was star performers for England during T20I and ODI series against India at home. Despite the series not ended up in favour of hosts, the spinner claimed four wickets with Ecclestone shone in the two wins from the five-match series for England.
Ecclestone was the Player of the Match in England’s solitary win in the three match ODI series at Lord’s. Picking 3/27 returns, she helped England to restrict 147 runs, sparking eight-wicket win to pull one back in the series.
Ireland skipper Gaby Lewis had a spectacular month of July, with performances across the ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe.
Gaby Lewis scored 154 runs from three T20Is with an average of 77 with a clean sweep against Zimbabwe which included two half centuries.
Her best performance came in the second T20I, where she amassed 87 runs off 50 deliveries to seal the series win.
She also claimed three wickets from as many T20Is. She also led Ireland to successive wins in the two ODIs, also claiming another half century in the process to wrap up a performance in the home assignment.
The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.
The ICC Voting Academy consists of well-known journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email which becomes 90% of the voting members.
The fans who are registered with ICC can also vote via the ICC website through icc-cricket.com/awards, which gives the remaining 10 percent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
