Dinesh Karthik has defended Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah amidst his criticism for missing the fifth Test against England. There is also a perception that when Bumrah doesn’t play, India win matches. It was reported that Bumrah missed the Oval Test due to workload management.

Bumrah played three Tests in England and also suffered a knee injury before the last game. But there is no official statement on his injury.

Dinesh Karthik spoke about the pacer on Cricbuzz. “Jasprit Bumrah will be proud of the way young Indian bowlers bowled and won matches for the country. He doesn’t run away from pressure. You want a wicket, you go to Jasprit Bumrah. If you want a 5-run over in a T20I match, you should go to Jasprit Bumrah. You want a wicket with an old ball in a fifty-over game, you go to Jasprit Bumrah,” he said.

“When you say that India win when he doesn’t play, it is not his mistake. He is a world champion. When he finishes his career, he will be spoke in the same parlance as of Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Dale Steyn. He will have a lomg career as his workload is being managed. It is not easy to return from injuries,” he added.

Bumrah also spoke about workload management to avoid injuries.
