Prior to IPL 2026, Ravichandran Ashwin has asked CSK to report himself to release himself. At the same time, there is speculation about Sanju Samson leaving Rajasthan Royals. In such a situation, there is a possibility of possible trade between the two players, which can be beneficial for both teams.
Delhi: The preparations for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 are still a few months left, but the discussions about trade and release have already started. Especially with two big names – Sanju Samson and Ravichandran Ashwin.
According to a social media post, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has demanded Chennai Super Kings to release himself. Ashwin played only 9 matches for CSK in IPL 2025 and could take only 7 wickets. His performance was not special, due to which he also had to sit on the bench in many matches.
Ashwin returned to CSK last year, which was also the initial team of his career. But, now that he has retired from international cricket, he is looking for a new challenge. At the age of 38, it can be difficult to make his place in CSK’s team.
On the other hand, the news of Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson leaving the franchise is also gaining momentum. If he is really different from the team, then he can be a great option for Chennai Super Kings. As a wicketkeeper-batsman and captain, Samson is counted among the players who can fill the place of MS Dhoni.
Interestingly, Ashwin has previously been a part of Rajasthan Royals and his performance there was very good. In such a situation, if the needs of both teams are seen, then the trade between Ashwin and Samson can be a practical option, which will benefit both franchises.
