Mohammed Siraj‘s deep admiration for Virat Kohli is well-documented. The Indian fast bowler has often mentioned how Kohli has been a constant source of support throughout his career, both during successful and challenging times. Even when Siraj faced difficulties during his stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Kohli stood by him, and soon after, his performances started to improve. His breakthrough moment arrived in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), which eventually earned him a spot in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, and from there, his career trajectory has only gone up.
When Kohli revealed his retirement from Test cricket earlier this year, Siraj took to Instagram to share a touching tribute, referring to Kohli as his “superhero” in the emotional post.
The 31-year-old pacer has continued to shine. He took a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the Oval Test, which played a key role in India’s dramatic six-run victory against England. Back in Hyderabad, Siraj recently grabbed attention when a photo went viral on social media, revealing how much he cherishes Kohli.
In the photo, Siraj is seen relaxing at home, with attention being drawn to the framed Virat Kohli jersey displayed on the wall. This signed jersey, commemorating Kohli’s final Test match in Sydney during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, highlights the bond between the two players.
The photo was initially shared by Siraj’s manager, accompanied by a powerful caption: “Believe.”
Siraj was crucial in India’s victory in the Oval Test, taking nine wickets, including five in the second innings, to help draw the series 2-2.
He was named Player of the Match and finished as the leading wicket-taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with 23 wickets. His performance earned him the 15th spot in the ICC Test rankings. With Bumrah missing, Siraj led the pace attack effectively. Following the Oval Test, Kohli praised Siraj’s outstanding contribution.
