Sourav Ganguly has reacted to reports that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are considering retirement from one-day internationals after the ODI series in Australia in October-November. Speaking at an AWL Agri Business Ltd event, the legendary batter said that he has no information about any decision and mentioned that their performance should seal their fate.
According to reports, the BCCI wants to go ahead with a young team in the 2027 ODI World Cup, and both players will be informed that they are not needed.
“I can’t comment on the reports and I am not aware of anything,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly lauded the two great white-ball players and said that they should continue as long as they are performing.
“It is difficult to say. If they do well, they should continue. Kohli has an impressive track record, and the same is with Rohit Sharma. Both have been phenomenal in white-ball cricket,” he added.
Rohit and Kohli last played for India during the ICC Champions Trophy in February 2025. Both greats have retired from T20Is and Test cricket. Rohit was present in the stands when India defeated England by six runs in the fifth Test at The Oval.
On the other hand, Kohli has kept himself away from cricket matches and recently started practising in London.
