Delhi: Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad has said that Prithvi Shaw spoiled his cricket career on the wrong path. Shaw is currently going through the most difficult period of his career. He has been excluded from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team for 2024-25 seasons. Apart from this, he was also unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, when Delhi Capitals released him.

Dinesh Lad said, “I have seen Prithvi since his childhood, when he was only 10 years old. He was very talented. But everyone’s journey is different and I don’t know what happened to him. Unfortunately, he went on the wrong path and his cricket got spoiled.” Shaw made a brilliant debut in 2018 by scoring a century on Test debut against the West Indies, but then his career could not stabilize and in 2022 he was ruled out of the Indian team.

Dinesh Lad compared the Earth to the present emerging players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre and said that these are the future of young Indian cricket. He said, “Although a batsman like Prithvi was needed, but now we have some great batsmen who will take Indian cricket to new heights.”
