England cricketer Jos Buttler has penned a heartfelt note for his late father, who passed away a week ago. The 33-year-old batter posted a picture of himself alongside his father holding the 2019 Cricket World Cup trophy.

He captioned: “Rest in peace Dad, thank you for everything.”

He played for Manchester Originals against Oval Invincibles in The Hundred despite the personal loss. His teammates were seen wearing black armbands in honour of his father.

However, the right-handed batter was dismissed for a four-ball duck. Captain Phil Salt amassed 41 off 32 balls to take the Originals to 129. Invincibles openers Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye hit half-centuries and added 114 runs to complete the chase in 57 balls.

Buttler hasn’t been at his best in The Hundred 2025.

He managed just 22 off 18 balls in the Originals’ opening match defeat to Southern Braves.

For Buttler, it was tough to step onto the field without a man who was an integral part of his cricketing journey.
