Cricket Australia posted on X, giving information that a Test cricketer, captain, coach and national selector – Bob Simpson was a great personality in Australian cricket who dedicated everything to our game. Cricket Australia expresses his condolences and support to Bob’s family and friends. Simpson was one of the legendary Australian players. He played 62 Tests and 2 ODIs for Australia from 1957 to 1978. He was the captain of Australia in 39 Tests. Simpson made his debut for Australia in Test cricket against South Africa in 1957. In this format, he scored a total of 4869 runs at an average of 46.81. His Test career includes 10 centuries and 27 half -centuries.
Simpson was an all -rounder batsman, besides him, leg spin bowling. In bowling, he took 71 wickets in his career. When Simpson first took retirement for Australia, he took 8 wickets while bowling brilliantly against India in his last Test. In this match, he also took Five-Vult Hall in one of his two innings.
