Prithvi Shaw Smash Century on Maharashtra Debut in Buchi Babu 2025

Prithvi Shaw made an impact in his first competitive outing for Maharashtra in the Buchi Babu 2025 game against Chhattisgarh at Guru Nanak College in Chennai.

Prithvi Shaw reached his ton in 122 deliveries and marked the occasion with a celebration in the 44th over of Maharashtra’s innings. The former Mumbai batter raised his bat to acknowledge the applause from the dressing room before embracing his batter partner, Siddharth Mhatre.

His knock included 14 boundaries and one six.

Shaw had left Mumbai at the end of last season to join Maharashtra. He made the move after being dropped from the Ranji Trophy squad, having last represented Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in December 2024.

The Indian opener also featured in the T20 Mumbai League earlier in June, after being going unsold at the IPL 2025 auction.

Questions regarding his form and fitness had been widely discussed and missing out on the IPL added further fuel to debate.

However, the young batter opted to switch to Maharshtra in pursuit of more consistent to play competitive cricket.

Maharashtra were in a spot of bother as they lost four wickets for 16 runs, after having scored 71 for 0. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was also dismissed for 1 with Maharashtra slipped to 86 off 4.

Earlier Chattisgarh Made 252 Runs on Day 01, After Fiftees from Sanjeet Desai (93) and Avnish Singh Dhaliwal (52).

Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan hit a fighting hundred for Mumbai against TNCA Xl in the tournament.

Sarfaraz Khan faced 114 balls with help of 10 fours and 6 sixes, scoring 138 runs for Ayush Mhatre-led side. His super show with the bat helped Mumbai post a total of 412 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 90 over innings.

Sarfaraz Khan will play for West Zone in Duleep Trophy 2025. Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad is also included in the West Zone squad, which will be led by Shardul Thakur.

If Sarfaraz Khan manages to score big runs in the Duleep Trophy as well, then he will present a song case for selection in the Indian team for the home series against West Indies and South Africa in November.
