Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has questioned the selection of Harshit Rana in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, suggesting that players like Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna should have been preferred over the young pacer. He highlighted Rana’s disappointing performance in the IPL 2025, arguing that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler did not merit a place in the national team.

The squad for the Asia Cup 2025 was announced in Mumbai on Tuesday, August 19, during a press conference attended by India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, and chief selector, Ajit Agarkar. Harshit, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh are part of the fast bowling lineup.

Srikkanth voiced his concerns about the selection, criticising the decision to choose Harshit over Siraj and Prasidh.

“Where did Harshit Rana even come from? He was below average in the IPL. His economy rate was 10 in the IPL.”
