Rahul Dravid opened up about his relationship with Rohit Sharma, praising the batter for connecting with the players across formats during his stint as captain. Dravid said that Rohit cared for the team and maintained a good atmosphere in the dressing room.

Dravid spoke to R Ashwin and explained that his thought process matched Rohit’s leadership style.

India made it to the 2023 ODI World Cup’s final and won the 2024 T20 World Cup under Dravid and Rohit’s partnership.

“He cared for the team. He was always clear about what he wanted as a captain,” Dravid said. “For me, it was always the captain’s team as he managed the players in the middle. You need to help a captain in clarity and understanding what is needed,” he mentioned.

“He was clear about what he wanted from the team. His experience helped him. I challenged him on certain things and ensured he was comfortable. Once he was comfortable, I knew he would perform and get everyone else to contribute. He was calm and connected to the team.”

Rohit wrote a farewell message to Dravid after the latter’s coaching tenure ended following the T20 World Cup success. “I enjoyed our conversations and getting to know him as a person. It was easy to meet him and have dinner. It was not forced, and that was nice,” he concluded.
