Obed McCoy, Allen Lead Barbuda Falcons to Thriller Victory Against Knight Riders

Obed McCoy’s four-fer and Fabian Allen’s knock power Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to victory in the CPL 2025 clash against Trinbago Knight Riders on Thursday.

Falcons secured an 8-run victory and jumped to the top position in the CPL 2025 points table. Batting first, Barbuda’s Jewel Andrew and R Cornwall opened the innings while Akeal Hosein opened the bowling attack.

Hosein got the first breakthrough dismissing R Cornwall for 9 runs while Nathan Edwards bagged the wicket of Karima Gore for 10 runs.

Falcons scored 35 runs in the powerplay and Jewel Andrew scored 22 runs before being dismissed by Edwards.

With Bevon Jacobs and Shakib cheap dismissal for 8 and 7 runs by Usman Tariq, Imad Wasim and Fabian Allen made some solid contribution scoring 39* and 45 respectively to power Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to 167 runs.

Nathan Edwards and Usman Tariq went on to pick 2 wickets each while Akeal Hosein and Amir bagged one wicket each.

In the pursuit of chasing 168 runs, Colin Munro and Alex Hales opened the innings while Imad Wasim opened the attack. With Obed McCoy picked the openers Alex Hales (5) and Colin Munro (44), Pooran went on to score only 10 runs.

However, Keacy Carty and Kieron Pollard went on to score 35 and 43* runs respectively. Darren Bravo’s dismissal for 2 runs and Akeal Hosein’s dismissal has hurt Trinbago Knight Riders as they scored only 159 runs in 20 over innings.

Obed McCoy picked a four wicket haul while Rahkeem Cornwall and Shakib Al Hasan picked 1 wicket each.

Obed McCoy was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match conference, he said, “It happens (missing out on a five-wicket haul), that’s cricket. The pitch was gripping, so I stuck to my strengths. I stuck to my variations.”

“I had to be smart. I could get a wicket or two with pace off the ball. Proud of myself. I am getting it done with my performances,” concluded Obed McCoy.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons will play their next match against Guyana Amazon Warriors on August 23 at Sir Vivian Richards StadiumNorth Sound, Antigua.
