He played under Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, and MS Dhoni, but Vakkadai Biksheswaran Chandrasekhar influenced him the most.
“I enjoyed playing under VB Chandrasekhar as I learnt a lot playing league cricket under his guidance in Tamil Nadu. I liked how he went about things and his hunger for a win. He was one of the early captains I enjoyed working with,” Dravid told R Ashwin. He highlighted the impact of Dhoni, Kumble, and Ganguly.
“Dhoni was good. It was not easy to lead big players, but he was impressive. Sourav Ganguly wanted to win. Anil Kumble was also good and clear in his communication with the players,” he added.
Dravid hailed Glenn McGrath and Muttiah Muralitharan.
“Glenn McGrath was magnificent with the ball. I played him at his peak. Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were also good but I played them towards the backend of their careers,” Dravid mentioned.
“Muralitharan was the best spinner I played against. He had the ability to bowl both ways. He was never tired and bowled long spells. He kept coming at you,” he concluded.
