Rinku Singh was at his best in the UP T20 League, leading Meerut Mavericks to a dramatic win. His outstanding century played a pivotal role in a chase of 168 runs against Gaur Gorakhpur Lions.

Meerut were 38 for 4 in the 8th over, but captain Rinku Singh took charge. He was supported by Yuvraj (22* off 22) in the middle. Rinku amassed an unbeaten 108 runs from 48 balls. His knock featured 7 fours and 8 sixes, with 5 sixes coming from the last 6 balls, as he dismantled Abdul Rehman and Vasu Vats in the 18th and 19th overs to secure the victory.

This century was Rinku Singh’s maiden T20 hundred, arriving at a pivotal point in his career. The batter had faced a challenging period, raising doubts.

Rinku’s T20I career has seen contrasting phases. Initially, he enjoyed a remarkable run of form. Before the T20I series against Bangladesh last year, Rinku amassed 479 runs from 19 innings, averaging 59.87 and boasting an impressive strike rate of 175.45, along with three fifties to his name.

Rinku Singh’s Performance Slump and the Path to Redemption

Since then, Rinku’s form has sharply declined.

In his most recent T20I series against South Africa and England, Rinku scored only 67 runs in seven matches, averaging 13.40 and striking at 101.51. His performance during the South Africa series was particularly disappointing, as he managed just 28 runs in three games, at an average of 9.33 and a strike rate of 82.35.

Rinku Singh’s slump in form can largely be attributed to his inconsistent batting position with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In IPL 2025, he faced more than 20 balls only once, scoring 36 off 25 balls.
