The decision to exclude Bengaluru from the Women’s ODI World Cup venues was taken on June 4 after a stampede outside the stadium during the celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL victory, in which 11 fans lost their lives.
There has been no match at the stadium since this incident. The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) directed the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to receive the necessary security approval for the World Cup. But he could not get the approval due to which he had to lose the World Cup matches.
Other places of this tournament of eight teams include Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam and Colombo. Colombo is a neutral site for India-Pakistan match, as the two countries have decided not to visit each other for multilateral competitions.
According to the consent made before the Champions Trophy earlier this year, all India-Pakistan matches in ICC competitions by 2027 will be held at neutral places.
