Delhi: The 17th edition of the Asia Cup will begin from 9 September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The BCCI selection committee announced the 15 -member Indian team on August 19, including the name of star batsman Rinku Singh.

Questions raised on recent performance

T20 star Rinku Singh has not been in special form for some time.

His performance in the last one year has not been as expected. Even in this year’s IPL, he disappointed, where he scored only 206 runs in 16 matches. In such a situation, many cricket experts believe that their selection is shocking and it can be a risky decision for the team.

Rinku Singh’s response to selection

In a conversation with a private media, Rinku Singh expressed happiness over getting a place in the team.

He said, “I am very happy to see my name in the list of Asia Cup. I was not able to play well last year, so I felt that I would not be selected. But, the selectors trusted me, this has increased my confidence.”

Rinku also told that now he is trying his hand in bowling too. He said, “Nowadays bowling skills have become very important. The selectors are giving priority to those players who can also bowl with batting. If you spoil the day in batting, then you get a chance to contribute to bowling.”

Rinku’s statement on batting order

Rinku said that he batted at number five in 2023.

The left -handed finisher said, “I do not like to play at number seven or eighth, but if the team needs, I am ready. I am not just a finisher, but can bat on any position.”
