Bhuvneshwari Sreesanth, wife of S Sreesanth, has slammed former IPL chairman Lalit Modi and ex-Australia skipper Michael Clarke for reigniting the slapgate controversy involving her husband and spinner legendary Harbhajan Singh.
Modi recently spoke to Clarke and showed an unseen clip of the 2008 clash. The clip was taken from the security cameras. It showed Harbhajan hitting Sreesanth after match between the Mumbai Indians and the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings).
Sreesanth was seen crying after the incident. Mahela Jayawardene and Irfan Pathan, who were part of the Punjab-based franchise, tried to calm the pacer down. Harbhajan was banned from the remaining games of the opening season in 2008.
Cheap Publicity Stunt
Bhuvneshwari took to social media to hit out at Modi and Clarke.
“Shame on you, Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke. You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 just for your own cheap publicity and views. Both @sreesanthnair36 and Harbhajan have long moved on; they are fathers now with school-going children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman,” she wrote.
Harbhajan accepted his mistake, while Sreesanth has put the episode behind him. They shared dressing rooms for the Indian National Cricket Team over the years.
