The Netherlands endured another crushing defeat against Bangladesh, falling by nine wickets in the second T20I of the three-match series. With back-to-back losses, the Dutch have already conceded the series, but skipper Scott Edwards insists the team is determined to bounce back in the final game and return home with at least one win.
Bangladesh’s bowlers dismantled the Dutch batting lineup, bowling them out for just 103 runs in 17.3 overs. The chase was a walk in the park for the hosts, who reached the target in only 13.1 overs, securing a dominant nine-wicket victory.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Edwards admitted their shortcomings, “It was an ordinary performance in all facets, and obviously, it's very disappointing.”The
Netherlands had also lost the opening match by eight wickets, leaving them with no chance of winning the series. Still, Edwards remained optimistic, “We've got one more game to rectify things and get into a position where we want to be playing our cricket.”
Praising individual efforts, Edwards highlighted contributions from Aryan Dutt and Vikramjit Singh but admitted they fell well short of a competitive total. “Aryan Dutt had a good knock, and Vikramjit gave us some hope, but we didn't have enough runs on the board. The wicket was a bit slow, but it was still pretty good. I think when you're defending 100 on a wicket like that, it's always pretty tough. I thought we started quite well with the ball; Aryan was awesome in his first three overs in the Powerplay. But when you're defending 100, you need to get three or four wickets in the Powerplay.”
