Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow four Ranji teams to the state. He said that in view of the population of 25 crores of UP, more teams are required, so that the youth can get enough opportunities to show their sportsmanship. CM Yogi was saying this in a program organized before the final match of UP T20 League.

“25 crore population, four teams required”

CM Yogi said in his address, “The players of Uttar Pradesh should get more platform to showcase their talent. Our state has prepared many veteran players of international level. Since UP is the largest state in the country and represents a population of 25 crores, I demand from BCCI to make at least four Ranji teams here.”

Like Mumbai-Gujarat, UP also needs more teams

Significantly, more than one team participates in the Ranji of states like Mumbai and Gujarat. At the same time, there has been a demand from Uttar Pradesh for a long time that a team is not enough for such a big state.
