3 national highways and 583 roads closed due to landslides in Himachal Pradesh, yellow alert till 14 September

Shimla, 12 September (Read News). Due to the active monsoon in Himachal Pradesh, the rain continued intermittently on Friday. In the capital Shimla, there was a thick mist among the clouds. The Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms in many districts of the state till 14 September. Meanwhile, many roads and highways have been closed due to landslides and rain.

According to the State Emergency Operations Center, three national highways and a total of 583 roads were interrupted in the state till Friday morning. Among them in Kullu district NH-03 and NH-305 204 roads including 204, 156 in Mandi, 57 in Shimla, 44 in Kangra, 35 in Chamba and Una NH-503A 19 roads are blocked.

Power and drinking water supply has also been affected due to heavy rains. 806 power transformers and 364 drinking water schemes have come to a standstill in the state. The maximum number of 539 transformers have been affected in Kullu, 206 Mandi and 20-20 Shimla and Solan. In drinking water schemes, 176 schemes of Kangra, 91 of Shimla and 51 of Mandi have been disrupted.

Meteorological Alert
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for three consecutive days.

  • On September 12, there is a possibility of storm and lightning in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

  • On 13 September, heavy rainfall an alert has been issued in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts.

  • On 14 September, there will be alert of heavy rains in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain from 15 to 18 September, but no alert was issued for these days. From last night to morning, Murari Devi recorded 75 mm rainfall, 61 mm in Mandi and 52 mm in Sundanagar.

Monsoon havoc
This season, Himachal Pradesh has suffered heavy destruction. So far 380 people died40 people missing and 447 people were injured. Maximum 61 deaths were recorded in Mandi district. Houses, shops and cowsheds have also suffered widespread damage.

So far 1,280 houses collapsed completely and 5,469 have been partially damaged. Apart from this, 480 shops and 5,762 cowsheds were destroyed. Livestock has also suffered heavy losses. According to government data, 1,983 animals and more than 26 thousand poultry birds have died.
