Rishabh Pant has decided to start training at the BCCI Center of Excellence after recovering from the toe. He was injured in the Test against England. If not fit on time, Jurael or Jagdishan can get a chance in their place in the Test against the West Indies.
Delhi: Team India’s star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is preparing to return to the field soon. He was injured in the Old Trafford Test in Manchester against England. During that test, there was a fracture in his right leg. Now it is reported that Pant’s injury is improving and he is able to walk comfortably without any support.
Pant will now start training at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. He has been away from cricket for a long time and has not done any practice. However, now his expectations of his return have increased. If his fitness report comes positive, he can participate in the Test series against the West Indies next month.
West Indies Series next month
India has to play a two -Test home series against the West Indies next month. The first Test will be held from 2 to 6 October in Ahmedabad and the second in Delhi from 10 to 14 October. The team is expected to be announced in the last week of September for this series.
If Pant is not able to fit, then Dhruv Jurlel and N Jagdishan can get a chance. Jurael did wicketkeeping after Pant’s injury during the England series and Jagadishan was called as a backup.
Pant was hurt while reverse sweep off the ball of fast bowler Chris Woakes on the first day of the Old Trafford Test. The ball was hit by his leg and he had to retired. Later the fracture in the scan was confirmed. Despite this, he batted the next day and scored 54 runs.
