Abu Dhabi, 17 September (Read News). In the ninth match of Group-B of Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 8 runs in a thrilling match to strengthen their position in the tournament. In this match played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 154 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Afghanistan’s team chased the target to be all out for 146 runs.
Tanjid Hasan Tamim played the biggest innings from Bangladesh. He gave the team a strong start by scoring 52 runs off 41 balls. Saif Hasan added 30 runs in medium order, while captain Litton Das contributed 25 runs.
Noor Ahmed was the most successful among the Afghanistan bowlers. He took 2 wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs.
Afghanistan started a good start, chasing the target. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 35 runs, while Ajmatullah Umrajai added 30 runs. But the team’s rhythm deteriorated due to continuous wicket falling in the middle order. Captain Rashid Khan made some rapid shots, but failed to win the team.
Bangladesh bowlers maintained pressure all the time. Rishad Hussain and Taskin Ahmed took 2–2 wickets, while other bowlers including Mustifizur Rahman did not give the Afghan batsmen an opportunity to play openly with an accurate line and length.
In the last over, Afghanistan needed fast runs to win, but Bangladeshi bowlers stopped the team for 146 runs, showing restraint. With this victory, Bangladesh further strengthened the expectations of reaching Super-4.
