SL vs AFG Playing 11: Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka will square off against Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan in the 11th match of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 18 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Sri Lanka has won two out of two games in group stage games and is set to play their final group stage game against Afghanistan.

Meanwhile Afghanistan has one win out of two games and they must secure win in the upcoming game with a better run rate to keep their Super Four stages.

With Bangladesh secured two wins, if Sri Lanka wins the game Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be advancing to Super Fours.

Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat. Speaking at the toss, Rashid Khan said, ” We would like to bat first. Runs on the board is important on this wicket. It is a must-win game, we have to keep it simple and do the basics right. It is a new surface, we have played a lot in Abu Dhabi, 165+ is a good score.

We have a couple of changes.”

Meanwhile Charith Asalanka said, “I would have done the same thing. We have spoken about our middle order batting, we have two in-form openers and that is an advantage for us. We have to improve our middle order batting, we want to execute than talking. We have one change – Wellalage for Theekshana.”
