The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday unveiled a record prize pool for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2025.

The tournament will feature total prize money of $13.88 million — nearly four times the $3.5 million on offer at the previous edition in New Zealand in 2022. Remarkably, the figure surpasses the $10 million prize pool of the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The champion in 2025 will earn $4.48 million, up from the $1.32 million received by winner Australia three years ago.

The runner-up will pocket $2.24 million, while the losing semifinalists will each collect $1.12 million — a significant jump from $300,000 in 2022.

“This announcement marks a defining milestone in the journey of women’s cricket,” ICC Chairman Jay Shah said. “This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment and reflects our clear commitment to the sport’s long-term growth. Our message is simple: women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally.”
