The India women’s cricket team’s ODI World Cup preparations suffered a major blow on Thursday when pacer Arundhati Reddy picked up an injury during the side’s warm-up match against England in Bengaluru.

The right-arm pacer attempted a return catch in her follow through to dismiss Heather Knight, but landed awkwardly on her left leg.

After the initial checks by the team physio on the ground, Arundhati hobbled towards the team dressing room before eventually being carried on a wheelchair.

Until her injury, she had bowled 4.4 overs and conceded 34 runs for one wicket.

Arundhati, along with Renuka Thakur and Kranti Goud, forms India’s pace troika selected for the upcoming World Cup.

The team is yet to confirm the extent of her injury, and the expected duration of recovery.
