Gopeshwar, 26 September (Read News). Famous climber and educationist Dr. Harshwanti Bisht will be awarded the Kedar Singh Rawat Environment Award of 2025. He will be honored for saving the forests of Bhojpatra in Gangotri region and developing new forests of Bhojpatra.
It is worth noting that Chandi Prasad Bhatt was the leading leader of the Chipko movement in Rampur-Fata of Kedarghati on behalf of the Environment and Development Center. This award has been given since 2014 in memory of Kedar Singh Rawat.
Giving information, Kedar Singh Rawat Environment Award Selection Committee Secretary Mangla Kothiyal said that Dr. Harshavanti Bisht, who was awarded the first Indian Women and Arjuna Award to ascertain Nanda Devi Shikhar, has selected Dr. Harshavanti Bisht for more than four decades of work for the protection of the environment of the higher Himalayas with mountaineering.
Dr. Bisht, who was the president of an important national institute like the Indian Mountaineering Institute, developed the teaching work in higher education in the ninth decade as well as the origin of Ganga, Gomukh and Bhojwasa area, not only did public awareness for conservation of Bhojpatra trees, but also developed new banquet forests with the planting of new Bhojpatra plants in this area of the high Himalayas.
He said that on Friday, the name of Dr. Harshavanti Bisht was agreed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Om Prakash Bhatt, chairman of the selection committee. Under the award, citation, limbs and cash funds are given.
