Pathum Nissanka Century in Vain as India Win Super Over Against Sri Lanka at Dubai

The Sri Lankan batter Pathum Nissanka went on to smash a century, helping the side to march towards victory, but India finished the deal in a super over after Sri Lanka drew a tie in the Super 4s clash of the Asia Cup 2025.

India bowled out Sri Lanka for 2 runs and went on to claim victory in the super over. The game in Dubai has been one of the most closely contested matches of the tournament, as both sides went on to score 202 runs in their 20-over innings.

Batting first, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Nuwan Thushara opened the bowling attack.

Gill lost his wicket for 4 runs, and with Abhishek and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease, India went on to score 71 runs in the powerplay.

With Hasaranga bagged the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav (12) on a lbw. Asalanka bagged the wicket of Abhishek Sharma who scored 61 runs off 31 deliveries which included 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Despite India losing wickets on regular intervals they maintained the run rate around 10. With Sanju Samson added 39 runs to score board, Hardik Pandya lost his wicket to Chameera for 2 runs.

Mahesh Theekshana, Chameera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shanaka and Charith Asalanka Went on to Pick One Wicket Each.

In the pursuit of chasing 203 runs, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis went on to open the innings while Hardik Pandya opened the bowling attack.

After Kusal Mendis dimissal for duck by Hardik Pandya, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera went on to test Indian bowlers as they went on to score 72 runs in the powerplay.

Both went on to smash fifty as they were unstoppable making a 127 run partnership. Kusal Perera went on to score 58 runs before being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy.

Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh went on to bag the wickets of Charith Asalanka and Kamindu Mendis for 5 and 3.

Meanwhile Pathum Nissanka brought up his maiden T20I century of 52 deliveries. In the final over, Pathum Nissanka got dismissed and with Dasun Shanaka and Janith Liyanage at crease, Sri Lanka went on to score 202 runs in their 20 over innings to draw a tie in the game.

Arshseep Singh went on to bag the wickets of Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka in the Super Over. Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill went on to complete the chase at ease.
