IPL 2024: Punjab Kings on Friday carved their name in T20 history and achieved the biggest target in the shortest format. Against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), they easily overcame the challenge of 262 runs and secured a resounding win by eight wickets.

Opener Jonny Bairstow's scintillating innings led Punjab Kings to showcase their explosive batting with a stunning performance at the Eden Gardens. Bairstow's innings of eight fours and nine sixes gave PBKS the much-needed impetus to win, and impact player Prabhasimran Singh also laid the foundation for the team's win with a blistering knock of 54 off 20 balls. The team's mammoth score of 262 for 2 is their highest innings in the IPL.

With the win against KKR, Punjab Kings got their first win in five matches and jumped to the eighth position in the IPL points table. Punjab currently has six points. PBKS broke South Africa's record for most successful run chases in T20 history. Last year, South Africa set this record while chasing West Indies' 258 runs.
