On Day 2 (Friday, October 3) of the opening match in the two-match series against the West Indies, Athiya Shetty, wife of Indian cricketer KL Rahul, shared a heartfelt message as the right-handed batter scored his eleventh Test century.

Rahul kept the scoreboard moving on Day 2 by playing his natural game, starting on his overnight score of 53.

He saw captain Shubman Gill (50) get out at the other end, but he got to a hundred off 190 balls, which was his second hundred at home. Athiya posted a picture of KL celebrating his hundred on Instagram and wrote: “The best for his best.”

Rahul previous Test ton in India came against England at Chennai in December 2016. This is the fourth-longest gap for an Indian player between two home hundreds. Remarkably, Rahul’s 3,211-day gap between his first and second Test centuries on home soil is the longest ever for an Indian batter.
