New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr is ‘excited’ to bowl at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati–a ground which has favoured spinners in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025–against Bangladesh in league stage fixture on Friday.

Kerr, who’s also wary of batting against spin as a top order batter, took four wickets in Indore where they suffered losses against Australia and South Africa. Guwahati’s conditions will be unknown territory but she’s aware of the help she might get from the wicket.

“There has been quite a bit of turn and bounce during training. I think it’s about being really disciplined with the bat, you have to sum up conditions really quickly and then work out what your best game plan is. It’s one where I get a little bit excited about bowling but I’ve probably got to work a little bit harder with the bat.”

Kerr also said that there weren’t any concerns with Suzie Bates’ form with the bat. The 38-year-old veteran recorded ducks against the Aussies and the Proteas. “She’s made two mistakes, but I think she’s in form. With her experience, she’ll be able to bounce back very quickly.”

Bangladesh vice-captain Nahida Akter reaffirmed belief for the team’s batters, including the likes of skipper Nigar Sultana Joty and Fargana Hoque. “As a team, we believe in our batters. Some of them might not have been able to play well at times, but there are five more matches to go. I’m sure they will come back to their best.”
