New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and decided to bat first and her team scored 227 runs losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply, Bangladesh team was all out for 127 runs.

Divine-Halli batted brilliantly

Some early wickets fell in the beginning of New Zealand’s batting. Suzie Bates was out after scoring 29 runs, Georgia Plimmer 4 and Emilia Kerr scored 1 run. After this, Brooke Holiday played a brilliant inning of 69 runs. Captain Sophie Devine also scored 63 runs. Muddy Green added 25 runs and Isabella Gaze added 12 runs. In the end, Lia Tahuhu scored fast runs (12 runs in 4 balls) and took the score to 227.

Rabeya Khan was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh. He took 3 wickets. Nahida Akhtar, Nishita Nishi and Fahima Khatun also got one wicket each.

Bangladesh’s big defeat

The Bangladesh team, which set out to chase the target, had a very bad start. The entire team was all out for just 127 runs in 39.5 overs. At one time the team had lost 6 wickets in just 14 overs. Captain Nigar Sultana could score only 4 runs. Rabeya Khan struggled a little and scored 25 runs. Apart from this, Fahima Khatoon added 34 runs in 80 balls, which was the biggest innings of the team.

Jess Kerr took 3 wickets for New Zealand. Leah Tahuhu and Rosemary Mair took 2 wickets each. Amelia Kerr and Eden Carson also got 1-1 wicket. New Zealand’s planning and control in bowling was amazing.

This defeat of Bangladesh can further weaken their position in the World Cup. At the same time, the New Zealand team will gain confidence from this victory and hope for better performance in the next matches.
