The Indian cricket team won the second test match against West Indies easily by seven wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and made a clean sweep of the two-match series 2-0.
An amazing performance was seen from the Indian team in this match. However, despite this brilliant game, Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir raised questions on the pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium in the press conference. He expressed disappointment over the poor quality of the pitch and the Indian team management did not seem too happy with the pitch.According to Gambhir, the Delhi pitch did not provide much help to the fast bowlers and finger spinners. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj were seen struggling a lot for wickets in this match.
At the same time, the pitch of Arun Jaitley Stadium is helpful for spinners but Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar did not get any help from it. In such a situation, Gambhir expressed concern about the lack of pace and bounce in the pitch and termed it disappointing.Gautam Gambhir said in the press conference, 'I believe that we could have got a better pitch here. We got the result on the fifth day but I feel that after taking the edge of the bat the ball should have reached the wicketkeeper or the slip fielders.
I know we keep talking about the important role of spinners, but when you have two great fast bowlers, you want them to make important contributions in the match. At the same time, during the match, the batsmen were easily playing the slow balls of the spinners on the backfoot. In such a situation, Gambhir said, 'The pitch should have some pace and bounce. But there was nothing like that in the pitch here, it is disappointing. We can use better pitches in future because it is the responsibility of all of us to save Test cricket. Let us tell you, the next test series of the Indian team is to be played against South Africa in Kolkata and Guwahati in November.
In such a situation, it is possible that in these matches the team management will want such pitches which will be helpful for fast bowlers also.
