Delhi: West Indies cricket team created a new history in ODI cricket on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. In the second match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, West Indies captain Shai Hope bowled all 50 overs of the team with his spin bowlers.

This happened for the first time in the history of ODI cricket, when a team got all the overs of the entire innings done only by the spinners.

Shai Hope’s unique decision

After winning the toss, Bangladesh decided to bat first. After this, Shai Hope did not give a single over to the fast bowlers in the entire match. This decision was not only surprising, but it also created a unique record in the history of West Indies cricket.

All five spinners bowled 10 overs each.

For West Indies, Akil Hussain, Roston Chase, Kheri Pierre, Gudakesh Moti and Alick Athanje bowled 10 overs each.

Akil Hussain took 2 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs, while Gudakesh Moti took 3 wickets for 65 runs in 10 overs. Alick Athanje bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets for just 14 runs in 10 overs. Roston Chase gave 44 runs and Khary Pierre gave 43 runs. However, both of them did not get any wicket.

Bangladesh’s batting continues to be lackluster

Bangladesh’s batting once again did not live up to expectations.

The team scored 213 runs after losing 7 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Opener Soumya Sarkar scored 45 runs, while in the end Rishad Hussain played a brilliant inning of 39 not out in 14 balls. Captain Mehdi Hasan Miraj remained unbeaten on 32 and Nurul Hasan on 23 runs. Bangladesh could cross 200 runs on the basis of Rishad’s explosive batting.

Shai Hope’s unique strategic decision in the second match caught everyone’s attention and gave the team a memorable achievement in ODI history. However, after the match was tied, West Indies won in the super over and leveled the series at 1-1.
