Indian batters are playing aggressively in the Indian Premier League 2024. Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh have taken the tournament by storm. They have been sensational for Punjab Kings in the 17th season.
Shahrukh Khan of Gujarat Titans has the same reputation but couldn’t justify it before the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The 28-year-old Indian batter, who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, was promoted in the batting order, giving a chance to the right-handed batter to show his hitting range.
He scored 58 runs off 30 balls, packed with 5 sixes and 3 sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of 193.33 before Mohammed Siraj got rid of him with a toe-crushing Yorker.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu compared Shahrukh to Shahid Afridi. “He bats like Shahid Afridi against spinners. Shahid was a dangerous batter who put fear in the minds of the rivals. The bowlers were terrorized when Afridi batted against them.
“Shahrukh has the same mindset. Khan can be successful if he bats smartly and shows consistency with the bat. I am watching him closely,” he said.
Sidhu also lauded Sai Sudharsan and called him the unsung hero of the franchise.
