The IPL 2026 auction may be a long way off, but the hustle and bustle in the trade window between teams has intensified. It is reported that Mumbai Indians are trying to bring back their old player Ishan Kishan in the team, while Chennai Super Kings want to add Washington Sundar through trade. Both the franchises are preparing to strengthen their squads for the next season.

There are still a few months left for the IPL 2026 auction, but as soon as the trade window opens, strategic movements have started among the teams. Meanwhile, two big news have come out, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are preparing for major changes in their squads.

According to a Times of India report, Mumbai Indians have expressed their desire to include Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan back in the team. Ishan has performed brilliantly for Mumbai in the past too, but his season for Hyderabad in 2025 did not live up to expectations. He was bought by SRH for Rs 11.25 crore, but he was seen struggling continuously in scoring runs.

However, in the first match of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season, he returned to form while playing for Jharkhand and scored an inning of 173 runs against Tamil Nadu, which might have restored his confidence. If media reports are to be believed, apart from Mumbai, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have also shown interest in Ishan Kishan, but no deal has been finalized as of now.

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings is now looking for a replacement for Ashwin. According to a report by Tamil news portal Tamil Samayam, CSK has started talks to include Gujarat Titans all-rounder Washington Sundar in the squad. There is also news that Gujarat Titans is ready to release Sundar without any conditions.

Washington Sundar played only 6 matches in IPL 2025 and took only 2 wickets in 10 overs. In such a situation, Chennai can look at his experience and adding him as a spin option.

According to media reports, this time CSK management is also thinking of parting ways with many senior and out-of-form players like Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda. The team now wants to make a fresh start with new and young players.
