Cricket Australia is discussing the proposal of allowing private investment in both the league and its teams, with the goal of infusing more capital into the competition

Todd Greenberg, CEO of Cricket Australia, has suggested that it’s reasonable to expect Virat Kohli to make a return to Australian cricket later in his career. He believes that once Kohli retires from international cricket, he could become available to play in the Big Bash League.

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will compete in the upcoming season of the BBL.

Ashwin is all set to make his debut this summer, becoming the first Indian cricketer to play in the competition after securing a full-season contract with Sydney Thunder.

Cricket Australia is discussing the proposal of allowing private investment in both the league and its teams, with the goal of infusing more capital into the competition.

To join overseas leagues, Indian players need to retire from both international and domestic cricket, including the Indian Premier League.

“I think it is realistic. We will continue the conversation. Ravichandran Ashwin’s arrival is a significant milestone for the BBL, and I think it will demonstrate the value of having Indian players in the league,” Greenberg told The West Australian.

“A lot of it will depend on whether we bring private capital into the BBL, which is something we’re actively discussing,” Greenberg explained.
