Iyer got injured while fielding

In the third and last match of the ODI series, the Australian team was batting first. During the match, Alex Carey’s catch bounced off Harshit Rana’s ball in the 34th over. Shreyas Iyer, who was fielding at backward point, made a brilliant dive while running backwards and took the catch, but he got seriously injured while falling. Iyer was seen groaning in pain on the field itself and sat down holding his stomach and chest area. Immediately the medical team reached the field and he was taken out of the field.

Although the board has not made the reports public, news agency PTI has quoted sources as saying that Iyer has suffered an injury to his left rib cage.
