Delhi: Rain spoiled the fun of the game in the 28th and last league match of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Interrupted by continuous rain, the match was eventually abandoned without any result. After the cancellation of this match, both the teams had to share one point each. India had already confirmed its place in the semi-finals and will now face Australia on October 30.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bowl first. Due to rain, the overs were reduced to 43-43 at the beginning of the match. However, due to rain again in the middle, the match was reduced to 27-27 overs.
Batting first, Bangladesh women’s team scored 119 runs for 9 wickets in 27 overs. India had got the target of 126 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule. For Bangladesh, Sharmin Akhtar scored the highest score of 36 runs, while Sobhana Mostari contributed 26 runs. Captain Nigar Sultana was run out after scoring 9 runs. The rest of the batsmen could not play big innings.
Radha Yadav bowled brilliantly for India and took three wickets. Apart from him, Shri Charani took two wickets, while Renuka Singh, Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur got one wicket each.
While chasing the target, India’s openers Smriti Mandhana and Amanjot Kaur gave a great start. Together they added 57 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana remained unbeaten on 34 runs with the help of 6 fours in 27 balls, while Amanjot was playing on 15 runs. However, India had scored 57 runs without any loss in 8.4 overs when rain stopped the play again and the match was eventually declared cancelled.
