India’s journey in the Women’s World Cup 2025 was a concern after their top batter Pratika Rawal was hurt during a match against Bangladesh that was affected by rain in Navi Mumbai. The young lady of 22 years who is the second-best in the tournament among India for the highest run scorers, turned her ankle while she was fielding in the 21st over and therefore had to be taken off the ground on a Stretcher.

Pratika Rawal’s injury sparks concern ahead of the semi-final against Australia.

The incident was when Sharmin Akhter hit the boundary off Deepti Sharma, and Rawal was going to cut off the shot but slipped on the wet outfield. Her right foot was stuck in the ground, due to which it was twisted in an awkward manner. The injury extent is not known yet but the first pictures have already shown a very alarming situation regarding her presence in India’s next semifinal against Australia on 30 October.

Rawal missing the game would mean a huge loss of power for India as she has been one of the most stable and reliable players of the team throughout the World Cup. In six games played until now, she has scored 308 runs with an average of 51, and among them, she made a vital 122-run knock against New Zealand in a must-win match. Rawal, along with Smriti Mandhana, who has scored the most runs (331 runs), has become an unbeatable opening duo that has been the main reason behind India’s triumph.

Now that India has secured a place in the semifinals, the attention turns to Rawal’s recuperation. The team management and medical staff will be working against time to get her in shape for what will be a thrilling encounter with the champion team.
