Sunil Gavaskar wants Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian team for the 2027 ODI World Cup. He feels the two stars deserve to play in the global tournament and should be considered as automatic picks.

“The moment they decided to play against Australia, it was clear that they were looking forward to the 2027 World Cup,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today. Whether they score runs or not between now and then, they should be in the team,” Gavaskar added. “With their form and rhythm, you can write their names for the World Cup,” he mentioned.

Kohli and Sharma added over 160 runs for the second wicket in the third and final ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

While Rohit amassed a hundred, Kohli posted a fifty as India won the contest by 9 wickets.

India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir had refused to back the two players for the ICC event despite their impressive records in the fifty-over format. However, Virat and Rohit showed why they are still among the best batters in the world. They have retired from T20Is and Test format and are only active in ODIs.
