Shreyas Iyer in ICU Latest News in Hindi: Shreyas Iyer suffered a rib injury during the third ODI against Australia. While running backwards to dismiss Alex Carey in the third ODI on Saturday (October 25), Iyer took a brilliant catch at backward point, but during this he injured his left rib and was in a lot of pain. After this he returned to the dressing room and was immediately taken to the hospital. During treatment, it was revealed that his injury could be serious, although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet issued any official statement in this regard.(Shreyas Iyer in ICU in Sydney after internal bleeding from rib injury news in Hindi)
According to sources, “Shreyas has been in the ICU for the past few days. After the reports came, internal bleeding was detected and he had to be admitted immediately. Depending on his recovery, he will be kept under observation for two to seven days, as it is important to prevent infection from bleeding.”
Upon returning to the dressing room, Iyer’s body temperature, pulse and blood pressure were fluctuating. Having trouble breathing, the BCCI medical team took him to the hospital. The source said, “The team doctor and physio took no risk and immediately rushed him to the hospital. His condition is stable now, but it could have been fatal. He is very strong and will recover soon.”
Initially, Shreyas Iyer was expected to be out of action for about three weeks, but now his recovery may take longer. “Due to internal bleeding, his recovery will definitely take longer. At this point of time, it is difficult to give a specific timeline for his return to competitive cricket,” the source said. He further said that the 31-year-old Iyer is expected to remain in a hospital in Sydney for at least a week before being declared fit to return to India.
Shreyas Iyer’s career has been affected by injuries. The Indian middle-order batsman had earlier informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in writing that he was taking a “break from red-ball cricket” for some time due to back stiffness and fatigue. Iyer is not a part of India’s T20 team.
