Parthiv Patel picks India’s playing XI for 1st T20I vs Australia

Parthiv Patel has picked India’s playing XI for the opening T20I against Australia. The five-match T20I series kicks off on Wednesday, October 29, in Canberra.

Parthiv Patel selected Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill as the opening pair for India’s first T20I against Australia. Tilak Varma and captain Suryakumar Yadav are number three and four. Abhishek and Tilak have been outstanding with the bat, with the former piling up 314 runs at a striking rate of 200 in the Asia Cup 2025, while Tilak posted 213 runs from six innings, averaging 71.

Parthiv Patel kept Sanju Samson as the wicketkeeper-batter at number five, with Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy as spinners. Interestingly, he left out Kuldeep Yadav. For the pace attack, he selected Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh. Shivam Dube and Nitish Kumar Reddy were also included as pace-bowling all-rounders.
