Bangladesh Women are set to tour India for a white-ball series in mid-December, featuring three ODIs and as many T20Is as part of the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP). A Bangladesh Cricket Board official reportedly confirmed the development on Thursday, October 30, adding that discussions between the two boards are ongoing to finalize the itinerary. The tour is expected to be hosted across Kolkata and Cuttack.
The ODI leg of the tour will mark the beginning of the new cycle of the ICC Women’s ODI Championship cycle for both teams.
"We are expected to leave on December 14 or 15 for the tour as per the proposed draft that is yet to be finalised by both boards, but we have been asked by the hosts to prepare for the series keeping that date in mind,” said a BCB official involved in planning, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty has already announced that she will skip the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) to focus on improving her fitness ahead of the India tour.
Meanwhile, a BCB official confirmed that Nahida Akter and Marufa Akter will also miss the domestic tournament, scheduled to begin on November 8 at BKSP, as part of workload management. It is understood that Nahida sustained an injury during the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, while the team management believes Marufa needs rest to recover from the heavy workload she carried through the tournament. Bangladesh had a challenging campaign at the World Cup, securing just one win in seven matches and finishing seventh among eight participating teams.
The squad returned home on October 28 and is currently on a short break before regrouping for the India tour.Meanwhile, in the same tournament, India Women advanced to the World Cup final after defeating Australia Women by five wickets in the semi-final at the Dr. D. Y. Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on October 30. They will face South Africa Women at the same venue on November 2, aiming to lift their maiden World Cup title.
