The former India captain expressed his admiration on X (formerly Twitter) for Harmanpreet Kaur’s team after their memorable win, also applauding Jemimah for her standout performance.

“What a victory by our team over a mighty opponent like Australia. A great chase by the girls and a standout performance by Jemimah in a big game. A true display of resilience, belief, and passion. Well done, Team India,” he posted.

The victory over Australia was significant. Earlier in the group stages, the Alyssa Healy-led side had triumphed over India, successfully chasing down 331 in Vizag.

A brilliant 167-run partnership for the third wicket, the highest India has ever managed in a World Cup knockout, completely shifted the momentum of the match.
