Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the second T20 match played at Harare Sports Club. Batting first, Zimbabwe was all out for just 125 runs in 19.3 overs. Afghanistan achieved the target easily and took a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Delhi: Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the second T20 match played at Harare Sports Club. Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first, but their batsmen failed to build a big partnership and the entire team was all out for just 125 runs in 19.3 overs. Afghanistan achieved the target easily and took a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Zimbabwe’s poor batting

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza scored 37 runs in 32 balls and contributed the most for the team. Apart from this, Munyonga scored 19 runs and Brian Bennett scored 16 runs. The rest of the batsmen could not last long and the run rate remained slow. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan took three wickets, while Mujeeb and Abdullah Ahmadzai took two wickets each. Farid Ahmed and Nabi also got one success each.

The target of 126 runs proved to be easy for Afghanistan. The team started well and Rahulmullah Gurbaz opened the batting by scoring 16 runs in 12 balls. Ibrahim Zadran scored 57 runs in 51 balls and gave stability to the team. Sadiqullah Atal added 8 runs, while Darvesh Rasoli managed his innings by scoring 17 runs. Azmatullah Omarzai scored unbeaten 25 runs and took the team to the target in the 18th over.

With this victory, Afghanistan won the series. The third and last match of the series will be played on Sunday, November 2 in Harare.
