The West Indies whitewashed Bangladesh 3-0 in the three-match T20I series after winning the final encounter by five wickets on Friday, October 31, at the Bir Shreshho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first after failing to chase down totals in the first two matches. Parvez Hossain Emon and Litton Das were dismissed for single-digit scores, but Tanzid Hasan played a brilliant innings, single-handedly keeping Bangladesh in the fight. Tanzid was dropped by Jason Holder at mid-off in the third over, when he was batting on 12. The southpaw made the most of the reprieve.

Saif Hassan added a 63-run partnership off 43 balls with Tanzid, setting up a great foundation for Bangladesh to make the most of the death overs. However, from 107/2 in the 15th over, Bangladesh were bowled out for 151. Tanzid finished with a career-best T20I score of 89 off 62 balls. Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers, bagging a hat-trick.

In reply, the West Indies lost the wickets of Alick Athanaze and Brandon King inside the powerplay. However, Amir Jangoo played a nice hand at the top to keep the required run rate within reach. Stand-in captain Roston Chase smashed a 29-ball 50, while Ackeem Auguste scored 50 off 25 deliveries.

Rishad Hossain dismissed them in the 16th over, but the West Indies had already reached within touching distance by then. Rovman Powell and Gudakesh Motie took the team home in 16.5 overs with five wickets to spare.

Top batting performances of the match — Ackeem Auguste
