Blair Tickner, who was added to the New Zealand squad as an injury replacement for Kyle Jamieson, has provided a match-winning performance with both bat and ball during the final ODI against England played on November 01 at Wellington.

New Zealand secured a comfortable 2-wicket victory to a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series against England after 42 years.

After New Zealand won the toss, Blair Tickner went on to put an impressive spell of 4/64 along with Jacob Duffy 3/56, displaying fine swing bowling at Wellington to restrict England to 222 runs.

After top order failure cheaply, a knock from Jos Buttler, Jamie Overton and Brydon Carse has helped the side to cross the 200-run mark in their innings.

Jos Buttler went on to score 38 runs, while Jamie Overton and Brydon Carse went on to add 68 and 36 runs to the scorecard.

Meanwhile, Jacob Bethell, Sam Curran and Jofra Archer were the other double-digit scorers for England. England went on to score 222 runs in the 41st over, losing all 10 wickets.

With Tickner picking the wickets of Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer, Jacob Duffy went on to bag the wickets of Ben Duckett, Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell.

Zakary Foulkes also picked up two wickets, helping New Zealand restrict England for a subpar total.

The chase was straightforward as the openers Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra made a solid start. Daryl Mitchell did add up 44 runs to the board, while other middle order batters, Tom Latham, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner went on to add up some crucial runs.

Zakary Foulkes (14*) and Blair Tickner (18*) went on to score winning runs and complete the chase in the 45th over.

Blair Tickner was named the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post-match presentation, Tickner said, “I was telling the boys I actually got that bat out of the shed. Don’t have a kit sponsor at the moment, so I just found whatever one that felt nice and, yeah, I didn’t think I’d be batting for New Zealand, but nice to get us across the line. It was obviously nice.”

Speaking on his two four-fers, “To be honest, I’m just happy to be out there again. The results have gone my way, and that’s always nice, but it’s easier when half the side are already back in the hut by the time I get to bowl.

Credit goes at the top to our bowlers who did really well. The wickets have offered a bit for the quicks, so I can’t complain,” concluded Blair Tickner.
